Marketing Strategy Template

  • What it does: Researches your business, market, and competitors using Firecrawl and News API, then a strategy agent builds a go-to-market blueprint (SMART goals, personas, 4Ps, funnel, messaging), and a final agent compiles budget, timeline, KPIs, and uploads the full "Documented Marketing Strategy" to Google Docs.
  • Best for: marketing leads, founders, agencies who want a first-pass strategy document from business name and website
  • Apps used: Firecrawl, News API, Google Docs
  • Setup time: 10 to 15 minutes

Marketing Strategy is a no-code, three-agent workflow that turns your business name and website URL into a full marketing strategy document. The Market Research & Analysis Agent gathers business and product info, customer pain points (e.g. from forums), market trends (News API), and competitor messaging (Firecrawl). The Core Strategy & Planning Agent produces SMART goals, USP, personas, 4Ps, funnel tactics, and messaging. The Implementation & Measurement Agent adds budget, timeline, KPIs, compiles everything, and saves it to a Google Doc. This template acts as a starting point: any app, instructions, and agents can be updated as required for your own use case—simply ask Max (Agent Builder) to update the workflow as needed. Last verified from workflow config on March 2026. Includes common failure modes and fixes.

Problem this solves

  • Strategy docs are ad hoc or delayed; you want a repeatable first draft from minimal input (business name + site).
  • Research across web, news, and competitors is manual and scattered.
  • You need one document that covers research, strategy, and implementation (budget, timeline, KPIs) for stakeholders.
  • A single run produces a shareable, editable Google Doc instead of disconnected notes.

What this agent does

This template can:

  • Research your business and product using web and external tools (Firecrawl, News API).
  • Find customer needs and pain points (e.g. forums, communities) and industry trends from recent news.
  • Scrape competitor URLs with Firecrawl to extract messaging and value propositions.
  • Produce a Market Research Brief and hand it off to the strategy agent.
  • Define SMART goals, USP, positioning, 1–2 customer personas, and the 4Ps (Product, Price, Place, Promotion).
  • Plan full-funnel tactics (Awareness, Consideration, Conversion) and a messaging framework (core message, pillars, themes).
  • Add budget and resource allocation, phased implementation timeline, and KPIs with measurement and optimization.
  • Compile the full "Documented Marketing Strategy" and upload it to Google Docs for sharing and editing.

How it works

  1. You provide your business name and website URL (e.g. "MyCompany" or "mycompany.com") via the text trigger.
  2. Market Research & Analysis Agent uses Firecrawl (competitor scrape/search), News API (industry trends), and research to build a Market Research Brief (business, customer needs, trends, competitors).
  3. The Research Agent hands off the brief to the Core Strategy & Planning Agent.
  4. Core Strategy & Planning Agent turns the brief into a strategic blueprint: SMART goals, USP and positioning, personas, 4Ps, funnel tactics, messaging framework. It hands off to the Implementation agent.
  5. Implementation & Measurement Agent adds budget, resource allocation, implementation timeline, and KPIs; compiles all sections into one document; and uses the Google Docs tool to create and save the final "Documented Marketing Strategy" for you to open and share.
  6. You receive confirmation and a link to the Google Doc (or access it in your Google Drive).

Requirements

  • Firecrawl account (connect the Firecrawl tool for search, scrape, crawl, extract).
  • News API account (connect the News API tool for search-everything).
  • Google account (optional but recommended: connect Google Docs so the final document is created and saved; otherwise the workflow can still produce the content but not upload it).
  • Input: business name and website URL.

Setup guide

  1. Clone the template and open it in AgentSpace.
  2. Connect Firecrawl: Click the Firecrawl tool node, go to Config, and connect your account. The workflow will fail without this for competitor and research steps.
  3. Connect News API: Click the News API tool node, go to Config, and connect your account. Required for market trends.
  4. Connect Google Docs (optional): Click the Google Docs tool node and connect your Google account so the Implementation agent can create the final document. If you skip this, the agent will still compile the strategy but cannot upload it.
  5. Run Test Workflow and enter your business name and website URL. Confirm research runs, strategy is built, and (if Google Docs is connected) the document is created.
  6. Open the Google Doc to review, edit, or share.

Common issues and fixes

  • Workflow fails at research: ensure Firecrawl and News API are connected. Check tool config and permissions.
  • No or weak competitor data: ensure website URLs are valid and Firecrawl can scrape them; add competitor URLs in your trigger or in the Research agent instructions if needed.
  • Google Doc not created: connect the Google Docs tool and ensure create-document permission; check that the Implementation agent completes and calls the tool.
  • Strategy feels generic: add more context in the trigger (e.g. industry, target segment) or refine the Research and Strategy agent instructions for your use case.

Customization knobs

  • Add or swap research tools (e.g. web search) in the Research agent and update instructions.
  • Change strategy sections (e.g. more personas, different funnel stages) in the Core Strategy & Planning Agent instructions.
  • Save to Notion or another app instead of Google Docs by replacing the Implementation agent’s tool and updating the save step.
  • Tighten or relax output length and format in each agent’s instructions.

Use cases

  • First-pass strategy: Get a full strategy draft from business name and URL. Best for founders and small marketing teams.
  • Agency pitch or internal plan: Produce a consistent, document-based strategy for clients or stakeholders. Best for agencies.
  • Quarterly refresh: Re-run with updated URL or context to refresh research and strategy. Best for marketing leads.
  • Competitor and trend snapshot: Use the research phase to keep competitor messaging and trends in one place. Best for product and growth teams.
  • Stakeholder alignment: One Google Doc with research, strategy, and implementation for review and sign-off. Best for cross-functional teams.

Example prompts and outputs

Example 1: Basic input

Prompt (input): Acme Corp, acmecorp.com

Output: Research runs (business, customers, trends, competitors), strategy is built (goals, personas, 4Ps, funnel, messaging), then Implementation compiles budget, timeline, KPIs and creates "Documented Marketing Strategy" in Google Docs. You get a link to the doc.

Example 2: With context

Prompt (input): Acme Corp https://acmecorp.com – B2B SaaS, targeting SMBs

Output: Same flow; research and strategy can use the extra context for personas and positioning. Final doc reflects it.

Example 3: Without Google Docs

If Google Docs is not connected: Research and Strategy complete; Implementation compiles the content but cannot create the doc. You can copy the output from the run or connect Google Docs and re-run.

Why you need this template

  • One run from name and URL to a full strategy document; no manual assembly of research and slides.
  • Consistent structure (research → strategy → implementation) every time.
  • Editable in AgentSpace: change research sources, strategy sections, or output destination (e.g. Notion).
  • Shareable output: Google Doc is ready for stakeholders and iteration.

FAQs

1) Is this an AI agent template or a fixed automation?

It is a multi-agent workflow you can edit in AgentSpace (Research, Strategy, Implementation). You control tools, sections, and where the final doc is saved. This template acts as a starting point: any app, instructions, and agents can be updated for your own use case—simply ask Max (Agent Builder) to update the workflow as needed.

2) Do I have to connect all three apps?

Firecrawl and News API are required for research. Google Docs is optional; without it, the strategy is compiled but not saved to a doc.

3) Can I use a different output (e.g. Notion)?

Yes. Replace the Google Docs tool with another app (e.g. Notion) in the Implementation agent and update the instructions to create or update a page there.

4) What input format should I use?

Provide your business name and website URL (e.g. "MyCompany" or "mycompany.com"). You can add more context (industry, segment) in the same message.

5) Why did research or strategy fail?

Most often Firecrawl or News API is not connected. Connect both tools and re-run. If a competitor URL fails, check that Firecrawl can access it.

6) Can I add more research sources?

Yes. Add another tool (e.g. web search, another API) to the Research agent and reference it in the agent instructions.

7) What are the main failure modes?

Firecrawl or News API not connected, invalid or blocked URLs, Google Docs not connected (no doc created). Fix by checking connections and URLs.

8) How long does a run take?

Research and strategy can take one to several minutes depending on number of competitor URLs and API response times. Implementation is usually quick.
